In
keeping to the latest trend, the movie’Ezhumalai succumbs
to action-packed sentiments in venkatramana production and with
Arjun’s direction and screenplay.
The
story has its usual attire of comedy, dance, and fight. The plot
(if it is there)is about a ruthless man Nagalingam(Ashish Vidyarthi)and
hi s gang ,of one village, starts the fight with Vekatachalam(vijayakumar),of
another village for a festival arrangement. They abduct the temple
property.Vekatachalam(Vijayakumar) is helpless. He along with other
villagers takes an oath that every son of a villager should be
brought-up to fight for the cause of the village and to make an
end to the atrocities.Ezhumalai(Arjun) takes the lead when all
of his brothers steps back in Vijayakumar's family. The movie goes
to a flashback when Nagalingam's daughter Anjali(Gazala)falls
in first sight love with Arjun.Arjun meets with problems from
AnandRaj and his men.He narrates the incident to Anjali(Gazala),
the flashback, why he had run off from the village.
The
flashback story of Lakshmi(Simran),wife of Arjun,is a sentimental
story,wherein Simran becomes a victim to Nagalingam's men.Her
emotions are well-expressed .Simran is all off with the usual
glamour and dressing. Both the heroines including mumtaz had played
the glamourous part to the directors taste.
The
family feud of Arjun's brothers are needless. It is a thrusted
part in the story. The ending where Arjun accepts to marry for
the sake of his son has a very little impact when all of a sudden
Gazala visits the hospital and has her uterus removed for the
sake of expressing her love.It is also abrupt when her father,
all of a sudden, leaves his revengeful attitude, which he was holding
throughout the story for the sake of his sister.
The action King has performed more of action and style to suit
his fans. There is apleanty of fights to show his glamour. The little
comedy of Charlie,VenniaraadaiMurthy, and mumtaz has been kept
in track with the story.
Mumtaz appearing now and then had been exploited to suit the audience
taste,The song "Lux papa" is a another favourites of Mumtaz hits.
The music director ManiSharma has to be applauded for his melodious
songs "unpunnagai"and"yella malai".
Even
when the story appears unwoven, this action-filled movie has all
its commercial elements to make us sit upright throughout the
film.
