There
are people who believe in the existence of god;
there are equally a large number who for one reason
or other do not believe in the existence of God.
Nammazwar,
our kula-guru has in his pasuram 1.1.9 has dealt
with the subject.
The
existence of God is admitted by an assertion that
'God Exists' and equally well by the contrary that
'God does not Exist'. In our assertion all the objects
in the world are conceded as His material form.
When the nihilist asserts in his own manner, it
is absurd; a thing can be referred to as 'not here;
not now; not in this manner' and so on but not in
an absolute negation. No term or name can can signify
a non-existent principle. Even the meaning of the
statement, 'God does not exist' can only be that
God has taken the body and form of formless things.
Thus Being and Non-being are both His attributes.
With them, He is present in all things, pervading
each, fully and as the Soul to the body.
