God has given so many promises for his children.
Each and every promise applies to a particular situation
to encourage and console us when we’re amidst this
worldly trouble. Lord wants to protect his children
from all evil happenings of this world. Trials and
temptations have become a daily course in this world.
But with the promise and guidance of God we can
overcome all the tribulations that we face in our
day-to-day life. He has assured to protect us by
his Mercy and Grace.
Why is his Mercy important
in life?
In most of the Psalms King David pleads for God’s
Mercy1. This shows that man cannot survive through
difficulties without God’s mercy.
Psalm 51
1 Have mercy on
me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according
to your great compassion
Psalm 57
1 Have mercy on
me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul
takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of
your wings until the disaster has passed.
Psalm 119
132 Turn to me and have mercy
on me, as you always do to those who love your name.
Psalm 123
2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their
master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of
her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God,
till he shows us his mercy.
God was with David through all his difficult times
and God has promised that his kindness and mercy
will be with his children forever. Thus God says
in the following verse:
Isaiah 54
10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills
be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from
thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be
removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
Whoever believes and
trusts Lord need not fear of the trials this world
brings forth. But shall hold on to the promise of
the Lord and plead for his Mercy everyday and every
moment of life. God is there to take care of us.
His unchanging love will guide us through the worldly
trials.
Thus God in the following verse says whatever that
form against his children shall not prosper.
Isaiah 54
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper;
and every tongue that shall rise against thee in
judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage
of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness
is of me, saith the LORD.
Who deserves God’s Mercy?
The bible says he shows mercy to those who fear
him and those whom he loves. Whom does he love?
He loves every one of us. He is not partial in that
regard. Jesus Christ came into this world as son
of man because of the love he has for all the human
beings. He wants us to be there in his kingdom and
hence came down to earth and suffered like an ordinary
man.
Luke 1
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from
generation to generation.
Ephesians 2
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who
is rich in mercy,
5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead
in transgressions--it is by grace you have been
saved.
What is expected of us
from God?
God wants us to love and fear him. Amidst all the
worldly trials he wants us to be patient. Thus Job
was blessed twice after all his sufferings. He was
patient and waited for the Lord to redeem him. He
never cursed or murmured against God. Instead he
prayed for his friends amidst his difficulties.
God wants to pray for others and have mercy on others
and lead a pure life waiting for God’s Mercy.
James 5
11 As you know, we consider blessed those who have
persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance
and have seen what the Lord finally brought about.
The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Job 42
10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD
made him prosperous again and gave him twice as
much as he had before.
12 The LORD blessed the latter part of Job's life
more than the first.
Jude 1
21 Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for
the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you
to eternal life.
23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to
others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even
the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.
God is there to comfort and guide us. He is there
to fight for us against all the evil things. Because
he is full of compassion and Mercy. Let us not fear
of the worldly trials and temptations. Let us cast
our worries and burdens unto the Lord and Rejoice
in him now and always. Let us show mercy and save
others so that everyone can enjoy the eternal life
promised by God. May God help us and keep us under
his loving care. Amen
