Nothing matters except your love for God. He is as distant from you as your eyes are from
your heart. When the tears of love flowing from your eyes wash His Lotus Feet in your heart, He makes you His.
Take the instance of ThiruppanAzhwar.
ThiruppanAzhwar was distressed that his birth in a backward class was an obstacle to his having darshan of the Lord and that he would not be able to attain the Divine Grace. He was always contemplating on SriRanganatha and crying for Him from the other side of the river Cauvery at
SriRangam . His constant prayer was, "GOD, will not You grant me the fortune of seeing You and serving You?"
Can anything happen without God knowing it? When a true Devotee cries for God and calls out for Him from anywhere, God identifies him.
Lord Ranganathar instructed the chief priest of the temple, "Bring ThiruppanAzhwar here. He will shy away. But you have to bring him to My Sanctum by force, carrying him on your shoulders."
And so it was that at God's behest, the chief priest hoisted the Azhwar on his own shoulders and brought him to the Sanctum. The overwhelmed ThiruppanAzhwar sang," The eyes that have seen my beloved Lord Sri Ranganatha should not see anything else!" He sang just 10 songs and then he merged into the Lord in a state of blissful oneness.
He never did anything remarkable. He was squatting on the other side of the river Cauvery, nurturing an inferiority complex about the backward class he belonged to which he thought would prevent his access to God. He was just crying, singing and always longing to see and experience the Love of the Lord. That is all he did. And God rewarded him for his true love and devotion.
Do not assume that only by pilgrimages undertaken to Tirupathi or Mukthinath or Kailash or Srirangam, or similar places will you get God's Divine Grace.
Be wherever you are, do your duty and be in constant meditation on the Lord. If your love and devotion to God is true, then God will send someone to fetch you to Him. This is the message of ThiruppanAzhwar's life.
