Q:

Baba is always cheerful, smiling, jovial and never shows any trace of tiredness, despite the heavy workload he has throughout the day and tough responsibilities he shoulders for the organization. How can we achieve this?

Decide what you want to be.

Plan how you want to live.

Evolve systems to shield your mind from anything that may disturb you.

 If someone finds it difficult to be cheerful, it is because he has decided to be sad. Once he sets his mind on being cheerful always, then nothing can make him sad.

 What is the basis for sorrow? A feeling of insecurity, an inferiority complex; fear of the future, fear about life. Once you conquer this fear, you will gain absolute happiness. Fear is mind-driven, isn’t it? So when you resolve not to be afraid of anything or anyone, you will get over all your concerns.

 Asked about the secret of his happiness, the mystic poet Pisiranthaiyar replied, ‘Neither do I decry anyone as being lowly, nor do I unduly extol an elevated person. For me, everyone is the same Supreme God, and what anyone has achieved in life, I too am capable of.’ Something that you must follow in life.

If God so ordains, you will get whatever you need. If God decides otherwise, none can give you anything, whatever his social status is. Everyone is an instrument in the Caring Hands of the Lord. And none can care like He does and whatever He does is for your good only. So trust in that Supreme Power and develop absolute faith in Him.

 Another fact to consider is physical fitness. A sound mind can exist in a sound body only, so you have to maintain your physical fitness too.

We have every right to be cheerful as long as we do not harm or hurt anyone. Laugh at everything including you, but do not be malicious.

 Do not load your mind with thoughts of all the tasks you have taken on yourself. When you have too much to handle, make it a practice to note down and strike out the tasks as and when you complete them. That is what I do. I have a pocket notebook in which I note down every move that seems essential for the growth of our organization and then I assign the tasks to the concerned volunteers. That way, I do not clutter my mind but I also ensure that the work is done properly.

Plan your work schedule and be systematic about completing them. Organize the tasks on hand into sub-tasks and have a time frame to complete each one of them. Do not stop with planning; implement your plans. I set apart time for all my activities, including attending to correspondence - - letters and e-mails, reading the newspaper, attending to the work connected with school, hospital, counseling etc. I have my own work ethics and systems. I never keep anything pending.

 These are simple management techniques that you can extend to your personal and official life.

There are solutions for everything and as long as you do not trouble trouble, trouble will not trouble you.
