A
person who rises beyond the body is a liberated
person. When the sun rises, whether or not you
want it, darkness gives way to light. You are
assigned some responsibilities to fulfill till
you leave the world. You cannot escape those.
Even enlightened beings cannot stay away from
activities. Though I may not have any work to do
at a personal level, I have to continue
performing in the name of God. This is what
Krishna says, ‘I have nothing to gain from any
of the worlds. But I am constantly at work.’
If someone gives
up his karmas and responsibilities in an attempt
to meditate, he is not truly enlightened. You
must play an active role in getting some work
done. But you must let go of all traces of
selfishness, and perform in the name of God,
knowing that you are the custodian of God’s
property. This is real silence.
Karmas are the
reason why you are not able to attain silence.
It is a web spun out of your own anxieties and
worries. When you have completed your karmas,
you will attain blankness of mind. Every second,
you will live perfectly and productively. And
yet, you will not be living for yourself. All
your wants will be more than fulfilled by The
Supreme Cosmic Force for which you are working.
