I
am very fortunate to have a wonderful family. My family is very
large but my immediate family consists of my Dad, Mom and my
brother.
My Dad is one
of the most wonderful people that I've seen in my life. He has
been my friend, philosopher and guide so far. He has always
been a source of inspiration for us. I did my engineering and
am doing my MBA now because he is an engineer who did his MBA
after both my brother and me were born. He is 54 physically
but he is still a youngster at heart. He is good at swimming,
cycling, driving, rowing, shooting, fishing, walking and golfing,
just to name a few. He has taught me a lot in life. His determination
and hard workalways amazes me. He has a busy life at work but
he has never used that as an excuse to keep himself away from
the family. When we were young he would always take us out every
weekend. Week after week we've spent time in the beach listening
to his stories, playing games with him and enjoying ourselves.
Even now ,when I go back home he manages to take some time off
to spend quality time with me. He always tried to make life
interesting for us in all different ways that he could. Both
my brother and myself were pampered kids but then we were brought
up in such a way that we were totally independent as well.
My Mom is a wonderful
homemaker. She has always managed the home on her own. We kids
were useless in helping her do anything and she never minded
it one bit. She is a wonderful cook, she can also stitch well
and she is a very knowledgeable person. Her favorite pastime
is reading and she reads anything that she can lay her hands
on. I guess my habit of reading comes from her. She is a very
kind and helpful person. She is also a very strict person because
of which I guess we are where we are today. She is good at swimming
too and she loves music and at the moment as we kids have grown
wings and flown away into our own worlds she keeps herself busy
by watching television and spending her time with her sisters
and their families.
My brother is
younger to me by about 4 years but he looks as though he is
much elder to me. He is innocent and cheerful and loves to live
life. I am his best friend. He is mad driver but just like the
rest of the family he is good at cycling and swimming and he
loves music and movies. He is also very helpful and kind hearted
like my parents.
I value my family very much as I've got the best
of me from them. My interest in travel
comes from my family. So does my interest in studies.
Friendship is another thing
which matters quite a bit for me, I've seen that both my parents
value friendship a lot. Even after 30 years, my Dad is still
in touch with most of his engineering college classmates. It
sometimes touches our heart when we see him call his friends
just to tell them that he thought of them seeing their favorite
movie on television. My Mom is still in touch with some of her
school friends. Patience is
one more thing that we have learnt from them. It requires real
patience to handle a couple of kids like us and yet they managed
very well. And the best thing that we learnt from them is to
value all relationships. Day after day they had spent
time with us telling us about all our relations though it would
not get into our head, though we would go back to them the next
day and ask the same questions again and again.
I am a part of a lovely family
and I hope I am blessed with the same family if at all I have
any more lives…
